South Korea's ruling Democratic Party captured 12 of 16 provincial governor and
metropolitan mayor posts, according to results released on the 4th. The
opposition People Power Party won four jurisdictions — Seoul, Daegu, North
Gyeongsang and South Gyeongsang — with Oh Se-hoon re-elected as Seoul mayor.
Parliamentary by-elections held on the 3rd returned Democratic Party candidates
in 9 of 14 seats; the People Power Party won four seats; independent and former
People Power leader Han Dong-hoon won one seat.
