On June 5 the Central State Organs Housing Provident Fund Management Center issued a notice expanding withdrawal and use rules. Employees buying owner-occupied housing may withdraw monthly. Withdrawals are prioritized for purchases of first ordinary homes and second upgraded homes; purchases of a third or subsequent property are also eligible to apply for withdrawals. Employees buying owner-occupied housing in the province of their non-Beijing household registration (or ancestral home) may apply to withdraw. From June 5, 2026, amounts previously withdrawn for rent can, when applying for a housing provident fund personal loan, be merged and counted toward the provident fund account balance.
