On June 5, 2026 China's Vice President Han Zheng addressed the plenary of the
29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and set out four
global-governance proposals: uphold genuine multilateralism with equal
participation and decision-making and strengthen developing countries’
representation; defend international fairness by protecting the UN’s authority
and opposing double standards and selective application of international law;
promote shared development through full implementation of the UN 2030
Sustainable Development Agenda, citing China’s upcoming informal APEC leaders’
meeting as a vehicle to build an Asia‑Pacific community to spur regional and
global growth; and enhance policy coordination among states, international
organizations and multilateral institutions to deliver tangible results on
global challenges.
