MOHURD told a State Council briefing on June 8 that China’s urban underground
pipeline network totals about 3.9 mln km, with roughly 7,700 km of underground
utility corridors completed. During the 15th Five‑Year Plan period the ministry
said it will build or renovate about 770,000 km of urban underground pipelines –
including ~200,000 km of gas, ~175,000 km of drainage, ~175,000 km of water
supply, ~100,000 km of sewage and ~120,000 km of heating pipelines – a programme
the ministry said will strengthen urban resilience and support investment
demand.
