According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, in the week to June
7 national live hog prices averaged 10.14 yuan/kg, unchanged week-on-week;
retail pork at county markets averaged 19.84 yuan/kg, down 0.5% w/w. Monitoring
of 200 wholesale markets showed a national wholesale pork average of 14.64
yuan/kg, down 0.5% w/w and down 28.6% YoY. Analysts said producers and
slaughterhouses kept normal marketing and slaughtering rhythms, leaving supply
ample; rising temperatures and seasonal weak demand put modest downward pressure
on prices. Outlook: live hog and pork prices are expected to trade with small
fluctuations this week.
