MOFCOM and seven other agencies issued measures to deepen market-based operation of tourist trains, encouraging tourism firms and railway operators to jointly design tourism-train products. The notice encourages capable localities to develop themed trains with regional cultural features as local tourism signatures, actively promotes design and development of cross-border tourist-train products for China–Laos, China–Kazakhstan, China–Vietnam and China–Russia routes, and calls for study and design of tourist-train offerings tailored to inbound visitors to boost the international competitiveness of rail tourism.
