Travelers report return fares can be roughly 1,000 yuan cheaper if the return date avoids the holiday peak. Some long-haul routes to northern destinations are even cheaper. Online travel platform data show off-peak ticket bookings for June 1–15 rose 19.6% YoY versus last year’s pre-festival period.
