At a routine State Council Taiwan Affairs Office briefing, a reporter cited DPP claims that on June 5 a mainland coast guard vessel entered restricted waters around the Dongsha Islands and that ships from both sides confronted each other. Spokesperson Zhang Han said China asserts sovereignty over South China Sea islands, including the Dongsha Islands and adjacent waters, and that mainland coast guard law-enforcement patrols there are normal. He warned the DPP authorities must bear all consequences if they provoke such patrols.

Iranian media reported the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched a missile strike on a US base in Jordan. On the A-share market, oilfield-services and engineering stocks rebounded: Keli rose more than 9%, with Tongyuan Petroleum, Huibopu, Qianneng Hengxin, Zhongman Petroleum and Beken Energy also gaining.
