The State Council executive meeting heard a report on implementation of the
National Science and Technology Conference directives. The meeting urged
prioritizing the construction of China as a science and technology power,
efficiently organizing and implementing major national S&T projects and
improving utilization of major research facilities. It called for system-level
coordinated R&D among national strategic S&T bodies, clearer main directions and
priority areas for basic research, an ecosystem conducive to original
innovation, and acceleration of high-level S&T self-reliance to support
Chinese-style modernization.
