An Italian historian said US-Iran negotiations are likely to repeatedly falter
so long as Israeli prime minister Netanyahu remains in office. He said Netanyahu
will not allow an end to the war at least before Israel’s October election, and
predicted talks will break down every few days or weeks as Netanyahu seeks to
cement an indispensable wartime-leader image. The academic added that Trump has
been a key enabler of Israel’s right wing and that last week’s leaked call and
related events were largely a show to signal Trump’s continued influence over
Netanyahu.
