Since October 2025, China’s telecom fraud cases have fallen year‑on‑year for
eight consecutive months, the Ministry of Public Security said. Ten scam types
account for about 85% of cases: order‑rebate schemes, fraudulent
e‑commerce/shopping services, fake online investment and wealth‑management,
impersonation of e‑commerce logistics customer service, loan/credit‑check scams,
fake in‑game transactions, online dating fraud, impersonation of law‑enforcement
or judicial officials, impersonating executives or acquaintances, and airline
ticket refund/rescheduling fraud. Order‑rebate schemes are the most frequent,
making up 25% of cases. Fake online investment scams account for roughly 40% of
total reported losses; cases with losses in the millions to tens of millions of
yuan are predominantly this type.
