Rising curb weights of new-energy vehicles have renewed debate in China over whether EVs should pay road-maintenance fees. Several industry insiders say Chinese regulators are studying proposals to reallocate road-maintenance charges and to reform broader auto tax and fee structures to match the evolving industry. Officials aim to move policy from explicit industry support toward cost-sharing, which could see EV tax exemptions gradually phased down. Wang Ning, director of the Automotive Industry and Technology Strategy Center at Tongji University, said “oil and electricity parity” is a long-term trend. Cui Dongshu, CPCA secretary-general and an early proponent of converting road levies into taxes, said the fuel-linked road-fee system is now structurally unbalanced and needs upgrade.

China Securities Depository and Clearing Co. said in its June 12 2025 annual report that 13.87 mln new investors were added in 2025, of which 13.83 mln were natural persons, taking the year‑end investor count to 250.67 mln, up 5.86% y/y. CSDC said the period‑end investor figure counts single‑ID accounts holding active, non‑cancelled, non‑dormant A‑ or B‑share accounts. At end‑2025 CSDC‑registered market values were 137.80 tln yuan on the Shanghai/Shenzhen exchanges, 869.442 bln yuan on the Beijing Stock Exchange and 1,978.021 bln yuan on the National Equities Exchange and Quotations; within Shanghai/Shenzhen A‑shares amounted to 107.84 tln yuan and B‑shares to 111.409 bln yuan.
