In a Wall Street Journal interview, Trump said he plans to immediately issue a
statement confirming the US has reached an agreement with Iran and that he or
the vice president will sign the pact electronically. He said the deal would
include an Iranian commitment not to acquire nuclear weapons and the immediate
reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump said the US is not in a rush to remove
nuclear material and may delay extraction for a month or two. He described
inspections as going to be very strict but gave no operational details. Iran
would not receive unfrozen funds under the agreement, though sanctions could be
lifted. He called a maritime blockade more effective than strikes. Iran has not
confirmed the agreement.
