The New York Times reports US President Trump told a Sunday interview he has
reached an agreement with Iran that will ensure the Strait of Hormuz is
permanently toll-free. He said Israeli prime minister Netanyahu opposed the deal
but that US action has spared Israel from “nuclear annihilation,” adding
Netanyahu should be grateful. Trump said if Iran fails to conclude a final
nuclear agreement — talks he said are expected to begin Friday in Switzerland —
he would resume military strikes on Tehran or, alternatively, demand 20% of
regional revenues in exchange for the US acting as “guardian of the Middle
East.”
