June 15 — China's Li presided over the State Council's 20th thematic study on
strengthening implementation of the main functional areas strategy to advance
regional coordinated development. He called for implementing Xi's instructions
and central-level decisions, tailoring plans to local resource endowments and
comparative advantages, and optimizing spatial layouts for agriculture, ecology
and urban areas. The State Council urged further institutionalizing the main
functional areas framework, applying zoned and category-specific policies, and
steering territorial development and protection toward clear functional
delineation, complementary regional strengths and high-quality growth to support
regional coordination and the optimization of major productive-capacity layouts.
