China’s State Administration for Market Regulation has approved the
establishment of the National Standard Reference Data Metrology Technical
Committee (code MTC48). The committee is intended to accelerate construction of
a self-reliant, authoritative and trustworthy standard reference data system and
to strengthen independent assurance of key foundational datasets. MTC48 will
address common foundational issues in standard reference data, promote an
authoritative, interoperable technical framework, and coordinate development and
application of urgently needed baseline datasets for AI, quantum technology,
advanced materials, life and health, green low-carbon and advanced manufacturing
to support scientific discovery, R&D, industrial development and governance
modernization.
