The UK is investigating whether a Russian warship fired a warning shot at a British-registered yacht outside UK territorial waters, the government said. The yacht reported the warship fired from about 500 yards (457m) away; the incident occurred roughly 20 nautical miles (37km) south of the Isle of Wight. There were no injuries or damage. The government described the episode as isolated and said it was not linked to a Sunday military action against a sanctioned tanker. The Ministry of Defence said: "We are investigating reports of an incident in the English Channel."
