Market sources said Hikvision has sent price-adjustment letters to distributors, with HDD prices to rise effective July 1. Hikvision said global AI compute buildout and rising data storage demand have pushed some storage-product costs higher in Q3; it will monitor market conditions and seek to ensure stable supply and protect customers. To offset HDD price pressure, Hikvision launched video encoding "Guanlan encoding", driven by the Guanlan large model, using AI-enabled precision encoding to cut video bitrate while preserving image quality and AI application performance. Hikvision said "Guanlan encoding" reduces storage needs by more than 50% versus H.265 and can save up to 90% in some scenarios, aiming to lower customers' storage use and overall build costs.
