China and Myanmar issued a joint statement agreeing to advance Belt and Road
cooperation planning and to push development of the China–Myanmar Economic
Corridor. They committed to progress major corridor projects, including the
Kyaukpyu deep-water port and the Muse–Mandalay railway, under principles of
mutual respect, commercial viability, financial sustainability and compliance
with both countries' laws. The parties agreed to continue leveraging the
China–Myanmar oil and gas pipelines, to prudently advance power grid
interconnection, and to explore an economically and environmentally sustainable
energy partnership; China said it will continue to provide support.
