China and Myanmar issued a joint statement agreeing to strengthen Lancang‑Mekong cooperation and to support hosting the 5th Lancang‑Mekong leaders’ meeting. They pledged to jointly develop a Lancang‑Mekong Cooperation 2.0 framework to advance a regional community for peace and prosperity, and to step up mutual support and coordination on multilateral platforms including the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, ASEAN, the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi‑Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) and the Irawaddy–Chao Phraya–Mekong three‑river basin economic cooperation strategic mechanism.
