OCBC Group Research strategists say the Fed's persistent hawkish stance should constrain near-term upside for Asian currencies versus the dollar, particularly low-yield and US-Treasury-sensitive FX such as the Thai baht (THB), South Korean won (KRW) and, to a degree, the Singapore dollar (SGD). They added falling oil prices partly offset those pressures by easing current account and inflation strains for oil-importing currencies including the Indian rupee (INR), Philippine peso (PHP) and Indonesian rupiah (IDR).

Significant river rises are expected across multiple basins: Pearl River basin — West River mainstem and tributaries Liujiang, Guijiang and Yujiang; middle–lower Yangtze mainstem and Dongting Lake system — Yuan and Li rivers; Poyang Lake system — Changjiang and Le'an rivers; mid–lower Han River and four rivers in eastern Hubei; upper–middle Huai River mainstem and tributaries Shiguan and Pi rivers; plus Taihu and the Qiantang River. Some small and medium rivers within the heavy-rain areas may experience floods exceeding warning levels.
