French finance minister says additional savings are needed to reduce the deficit to 5% of GDP.

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on the 16th said it will permit imports and US sales of Chinese-made toy drones that meet narrow technical specifications. Refinitiv reported the move partially reverses a December FCC prohibition that barred new foreign drones and key components as posing an 'unacceptable risk' to US national security and had targeted DJI and Autel. The US Department of Defense, after review, judged low-tech toy-class models do not constitute a national security threat. Allowed devices must weigh no more than 150 grams, operate within visual line of sight and within 100 meters, have no network or online connectivity, carry no camera or sensors capable of monitoring or data collection, and have a maximum single-flight time of 10 minutes. Models exceeding these limits remain subject to the existing ban.

Ritesh Ganeriwal, head of investments and advisory at Syfe, said Fed language showed a tightening bias, signalling inflation risks remain even if the Iran conflict ends and energy supply normalises. He said a hike this year is still possible but far from certain and would face a high bar; if a US‑Iran peace holds and oil stays lower, the Fed may have less reason to tighten. Syfe added the dollar could weaken and said the Fed’s new chair Wash has expressed a lack of confidence in the committee’s own economic forecasts. The firm says bond yields now, “for the first time in years, truly compete with equities,” and “every additional month of waiting forfeits yields that could have been captured.”
