Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iran President PEZESHKIAN held their
first phone call since the signing of the Islamabad memorandum between the
United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the two sides said. Sharif
congratulated the memorandum, saying it would help restore regional peace,
support Iran’s reconstruction and deepen Pakistan-Iran cooperation; he also
conveyed greetings to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. PEZESHKIAN thanked Sharif
and army chief Munir for their mediation role in securing the agreement and said
Iran is willing to expand bilateral ties. Both agreed to make reciprocal capital
visits soon to advance cooperation on bilateral and regional affairs.
