Afghanistan’s defense ministry said on the 19th the Afghan air force overnight
struck multiple hideouts inside neighbouring Pakistan used by Islamic State
Khorasan Province (IS-K), and that all pre-designated high-value targets in
Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were hit; the sites were allegedly used to
plan and coordinate attacks on Afghanistan. Pakistan’s Information and
Broadcasting Ministry denied the claim the same day, saying an Afghan drone
violated Pakistani airspace over the Khyber region, was identified and shot down
by Pakistan’s air-defence systems, and asserting IS camps and several terrorist
groups are in areas controlled by the Afghan government and are funded and
operated by insiders within that government.
