Iran’s deputy foreign minister said on the 19th the U.S. must ensure Israel
complies with the terms of a U.S.-Iran memorandum. He said Iran is prepared to
advance the diplomatic process if the other side shows similar seriousness. On
the Strait of Hormuz, Iran will continue, in coordination with Oman and under
international law, to provide navigation services. Under the memorandum’s 60-day
window Iran will not charge transit fees; after that it plans to introduce a new
channel-management mechanism and submit it to regional states. Any future
agreement must include the unfreezing of all frozen Iranian funds.
