Iraq’s deputy oil minister for upstream affairs said on Sunday the country plans to gradually restore crude production to 4.2–4.3 mln bpd. The proposed increase would return output to levels before the Iran war and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian President Pezeshkian said about $6 billion in funds frozen in Qatar will be returned as part of a preliminary agreement to cease hostilities with the United States. He described the memorandum of understanding as favorable to Iran and said negotiation outcomes would emerge gradually. Pezeshkian said the U.S. required a written pledge that Iran would not possess nuclear weapons and that Iran has signed such a commitment; he noted former Supreme Leader Khamenei has also said Iran does not seek a nuclear bomb.
