U.S. Vice President Vance said in Switzerland on the 22nd that Washington has
set up coordination and communication mechanisms to prevent further escalation
of conflict in the Middle East and that the mechanism has begun to show results.
He said Lebanon's situation has eased recently, with the past 24 hours among the
calmest periods in some time and the preceding 24 hours also relatively stable.
Vance warned that continued escalation would not enhance parties' security and
could worsen regional stability.
