Alphabet (GOOG.O) shares fell on Monday after DeepMind vice president John
Jumper said over the weekend he will leave to join Anthropic, sending the stock
down as much as 7.2% intraday — its largest intraday drop since February. The
move follows last week’s departure of senior researcher Noam Shazeer to OpenAI,
and comes amid broad weakness in large-cap tech names. Jumper, a core member of
Google's AI programming team, received the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for
AI-related research.
