U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC): For the week to June 16, equity fund managers raised net long positions in CME S&P 500 futures by 3,319 contracts to 983,431 contracts. Equity fund speculators increased net short positions in CME S&P 500 futures by 64,644 contracts to 501,690 contracts.

Trump signed two executive orders to speed advanced quantum computing R&D and reduce related security risks. One order, signed Monday, directs federal agencies including the Department of Energy to work with industry and academia to deploy a quantum computer usable for scientific research by 2028, a benchmark intended to demonstrate practical capability. The second directs agencies and security experts to prepare for quantum systems that could break standard encryption sooner than expected and to strengthen government and private-sector defenses to protect critical infrastructure.

WTI and Brent crude fell more than 1% intraday, trading at $73.94/bbl and $76.91/bbl respectively.
