Boeing China president Lu Yiming said on June 24 he expects the Boeing fleet in
China could double over the next 20 years, implying sustained demand for
aircraft and components. He said many parts for Boeing’s global fleet are
produced in China and that Chinese supply-chain partners contribute unique value
to Boeing’s global network. Lu estimated about 250,000 additional aviation
workers — including pilots and ground staff — will be needed, and said Boeing
has trained hundreds of thousands of aviation professionals in China and will
continue to increase investment in local human capital.
