Asian LNG buyers expect Qatar to lift force majeure covering shipments in mid‑July as regional tensions ease and Qatar increases exports. QatarEnergy has not signaled it will extend the clause; it typically notifies customers about a month before any extension, suggesting intent to let it lapse. A similar force majeure covering European buyers is expected to expire in mid‑August and is also expected to be lifted.

Germany has backed an initiative by several EU member states to amend proposed EU methane emissions rules, saying some provisions could threaten energy security. The draft regulation, aimed at curbing potent greenhouse gases, would impose new obligations on fossil-fuel importers. Earlier this week the US, Qatar and other gas producers urged the EU to change the rules, warning they could jeopardize oil and gas supply; disagreements over the regulation have since intensified.
