South Korea's KOSPI plunged about 8%, triggering a 20-minute trading halt. Financial blog Zero Hedge says MSCI’s decision in its latest review to keep South Korea in the emerging-markets index may be justified.

Iran’s foreign ministry dismissed US and Israeli positions on Iran’s nuclear program as false and urged Gulf Cooperation Council countries to back a Middle East nuclear-weapon-free zone initiative rather than endorse policies that portray Iran as a threat. The statement said lasting peace and security can only be achieved through regional cooperation free of external interference and condemned characterizing Iran’s defense, missile and drone capabilities as threats.
