UN Under‑Secretary‑General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief
Coordinator Tom Fletcher said on June 26 that more than 50,000 people remain
missing after a major earthquake in Venezuela. Fletcher told AFP: “There are
more than 50,000 people missing…clearing the rubble will be extremely
difficult.” The figure has not been confirmed by Venezuelan authorities. A
crowdsourced Venezuelan missing‑persons website shows more than 53,000 people
listed as missing.
