The 14th NPC Standing Committee's 23rd meeting on the 26th approved a decision
authorising the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to exercise jurisdiction
over the Hong Kong-side port area of Huanggang port and related extension zones.
The HKSAR government thanked the central government for its support, saying the
authorisation underscores Beijing's commitment to better integrate Hong Kong
into the national development agenda, will strengthen cross-boundary
infrastructure connectivity, facilitate personnel flows and trade between the
mainland and Hong Kong, and advance Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area
construction — a move it described as strategically significant and an
embodiment of the advantages of ‘one country, two systems’.
