Sources told Axios the Trump administration is close to allowing Anthropic to
restore access to its Fable 5 model, which has been offline for 15 days amid
government security concerns; insiders say restrictions could be lifted as soon
as next week and communications are expected to continue over the weekend, with
Anthropic expecting access to be restored shortly. On Friday the Commerce
Department permitted Anthropic to restore limited access to Mythos 5 for a small
number of trusted users. Semafor reported Commerce Secretary Lutnick wrote that
Anthropic has cooperated with the US government to address risks related to
Mythos 5 and Fable 5, that substantial progress has been made, and that the
company has committed to work with the government on agreements, standards and
releases.
