The U.S. Supreme Court, in a 5-4 ruling, blocked President Trump’s attempt to remove Federal Reserve governor Cook, overturning the president’s first effort to dismiss a Fed governor. The court earlier this year also ruled the president may not invoke emergency powers to impose tariffs. Separately, the court cleared the way for the White House to remove Federal Trade Commission commissioners without cause, expanding executive authority over independent regulators.

Robotics-related names in Hong Kong equities strengthened in early trade: Horizon Robotics (09660.HK) gained over 8%, Midea Group (00300.HK) rose more than 4%, and 51VV (06651.HK) and SenseTime (00020.HK) also advanced.
