ECB chief economist Lane said oil markets have been notably volatile since the last policy decision.

Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), parent of the New York Stock Exchange, plans futures contracts linked to global central-bank rate decisions and U.S. natural gas storage, targeting an Aug. 10 launch subject to regulatory approval. Contracts would reference rate decisions by the Federal Reserve, European Central Bank and Bank of England, and weekly U.S. gas storage data from the EIA, enabling trading or hedging around major policy meetings and weekly energy inventory releases.

By the 23:00 close, China’s domestic futures main contracts were mixed with more gains than losses: benzene and low‑sulfur fuel oil (LU) rose over 2%; styrene (EB), propylene, polypropylene (monthly-average and main contracts), pulp and PTA rose over 1%. Soda ash fell about 1%; caustic soda, rapeseed meal and PVC were down nearly 1%.
