The Hong Kong Monetary Authority said the Exchange Fund’s total assets were HK$4.39 tln as of May 31, 2026, up HK$36.7 bln from end‑April. Foreign‑currency assets increased HK$39.8 bln, driven by interest income, mark‑to‑market gains and proceeds from government bond issuance, partly offset by a reduction in month‑end unsettled purchases. HKD assets fell HK$3.1 bln, mainly due to mark‑to‑market revaluation of Hong Kong equities.

Siemens Energy and Neptun Smulders Offshore Renewables were awarded a contract by German TSO 50Hertz to supply the grid-connection system for the North Sea Connector 2 offshore wind project in the North Sea. The partners will for the first time work with a German shipyard to construct a 2GW offshore converter platform that, when commissioned, can transmit up to 2GW of offshore wind power to shore.
