Beijing's municipal science commission and the Zhongguancun administrative
committee issued an Implementation Plan (2026–2028) to accelerate AI-enabled
scientific research, targeting a global scientific-intelligence innovation hub
by 2028 to support the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei international science and
technology innovation centre. The plan names autonomous laboratories as the core
vehicle to reshape research workflows and funds integrated intelligent
experimental platforms that combine AI, embodied robotics and high‑throughput
instruments with end-to-end autonomous capabilities from hypothesis generation
and experimental planning to validation and discovery. These facilities will
create a dry‑wet closed loop of "compute-guided experiments, experiment-feedback
compute" to substantially shorten research cycles.
