Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said earlier today dozens of Israeli citizens attempted to cross the border into Syria. The IDF responded quickly, prevented the crossings and handed the intercepted individuals to police for further processing.

FCA executive director Sheldon Mills said regulators are in an "arms race" to keep pace with AI adoption in financial services and need broader powers, the FT reported. He urged UK regulators to assess whether large language models such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini should be brought within regulatory rules. Mills said regulators must themselves adopt AI to match the technology’s "speed, tempo and scale" and to "monitor, detect and respond to risks." A report by Mills warned that heavy personalization can improve product fit but may also produce algorithmic bias, opaque pricing and targeted manipulation. It recommends the FCA conduct a review within three to six months of risks from firms providing financial services outside the regulatory perimeter and potential consumer harm from rising use of AI in personal finance.

Semiconductor and broader tech-sector volatility has picked up since July. Harvest Fund head of large-tech research Wang Guizhong told a company media briefing he remains positive on China tech assets and is optimistic about an accelerated domestic AI catch-up, saying AI-related tech currently shows no systemic risk and does not warrant a bearish conclusion. He favors optical communications tied to high-rate upgrades, parts of the chain seeing price recovery, and semiconductor equipment, citing AI-cluster interconnect demand, optical-module upgrades from 800G to 1.6T and trends such as co‑packaged optics (CPO) and non‑packaged optics (NPO) as durable demand drivers and higher-certainty growth within compute infrastructure.
