Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company needs as much compute as
possible and is considering leasing portions of its AI infrastructure to
external firms amid tight supply of compute for AI development. Reports earlier
this month said Meta is drafting a cloud-business plan to directly monetize data
centers and other compute partnerships. Zuckerberg added there is potential to
build a cloud business if the company chooses to, and denied Meta has excess
capacity, saying he does not know anyone in the industry who believes they have
surplus compute and that Meta is fully utilizing its resources.
