On the evening of July 9 local time, explosions were reported across multiple
Iranian cities — southern coastal Bushehr, Choghadak and Bandar Abbas, and
southeast coastal Konarak. Axios reported US officials said US forces were not
involved. About an hour later Iranian state media denied the attack reports,
saying the blasts were caused by the activation of air-defence systems. CNN
confirmed the US had not struck Iran an hour earlier. US forces had earlier
conducted strikes over two consecutive days, hitting about 170 military targets.
