A Greek F-16 caught fire and made an emergency landing at Zakynthos airport. The pilot evacuated quickly and is in good condition. Civil Protection official Maria Mouzaki said the incident was caused by an engine failure. The airport will remain closed until further notice for safety reasons.

Forecasts show heavy to torrential rain in Beijing and Tianjin on July 9–10, with localized short‑duration intense downpours and elevated risk of mountain floods, geological hazards, small‑ and medium‑river flooding and urban waterlogging. Under the national flood-control emergency plan, the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters launched a level‑4 flood-control emergency response for Beijing and Tianjin effective 21:00 on July 9.
