Bangkok, July 9 — A promotional event for the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) and the 'Export China' Thailand session took place in Bangkok. MOFCOM vice minister Yan Dong, Chinese ambassador Zhang Jianwei and Thai Department of Trade Promotion director Sunanta attended; more than 200 Chinese and Thai business representatives participated. Yan said China has been Thailand's largest trading partner for 13 consecutive years and that Thailand remains an important ASEAN trade partner; Thai tropical fruit and seafood are selling well in China. He said 2026, the start year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, will see CIIE coordinate with 'Export China' activities to step up import expansion. Thailand is a 2026 'Export China' theme country and Thai firms are invited to participate in the 9th CIIE to deepen bilateral trade cooperation.

Dallas Federal Reserve President Logan said the Federal Open Market Committee using a voluntary central clearing mechanism for open market operations would improve operational efficiency and effectiveness and bolster US financial-market stability. She said such arrangements could increase use of Fed tools, including the standing repo facility, which is intended to supply liquidity to eligible institutions but has seen low market take-up; simplifying clearing could raise its appeal, some participants say. Logan also urged careful management of market leverage, stressing the need to balance leverage-driven returns against risks and to preserve an appropriate leverage–liquidity trade-off.
