On July 10 President Trump posted on Truth Social that Iran wants to continue
'talks' and the U.S. has agreed to continue negotiations. Iranian foreign
ministry spokesman BAGHAEI said Iran never sought talks but has agreed to allow
mediator visits. A Middle East analyst said dialogue is unlikely to resume in
the short term given ongoing hostilities, a fragile trust foundation and
widespread public skepticism in both countries; U.S. strikes during the funeral
period of former supreme leader Khamenei make rapid confidence-building
difficult. Qatar, Oman and Pakistan continue mediation efforts to try to restore
communication channels between Washington and Tehran.
