Toronto police said on July 11 a mass shooting at a music festival left two people dead and six injured; the suspect remains at large.

On the 12th the IRGC public relations office said Iran struck a second "unauthorized vessel" in the Strait of Hormuz and forced it to stop, saying the action was in response to continued US strikes on Iranian coastal military bases. The statement said that in a second-stage reprisal Iran used ballistic missiles to strike the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, targeting the base's fighter maintenance support center and its command-and-control center.

President Trump said Senator Lindsey Graham, whom he called one of the greatest people and senators he had known, has died. He described Graham as always working and a true American patriot and said he would be deeply missed.
