Iran’s military spokesman said the Islamabad memorandum assigns responsibility
for maritime traffic management in the Strait of Hormuz to Iran and accused the
US of attempting to impose an unauthorized shipping route in the southern
Strait, which would violate that memorandum. He said Tehran is coordinating a
joint navigational arrangement with Oman for the strategic waterway. He warned
that US strikes on Iranian islands, coasts or facilities have been met with
decisive responses and said Saturday night’s US action was immediately
retaliated. He added Iran’s armed forces have continued to strengthen readiness
during and after the ceasefire, using the pause to enhance capabilities and
update operational plans.
