Multiple US cities recorded all-time high temperatures on the 12th, the NWS
said. Preliminary NWS data showed Salt Lake City and Billings each reached
42.78°C on the 12th, exceeding prior records of 41.67°C and 42.22°C

difficulty of wildfire suppression in Utah and Colorado. The NWS forecasts that
by the 15th more than 90 locations nationwide will set or tie high-temperature
records, including many overnight records; parts of Florida, Texas and South
Carolina are expected to see nighttime lows at or above 27°C.
