Overseas media reported Tuesday's US CPI missed expectations; core CPI and related persistence gauges also undershot. The Fed-tracked services ex-energy inflation measure was flat in June after a 0.3 pct rise in May. Fed officials, concerned that underlying or structural inflation may persist, have flagged services inflation as a key watch because services price pressures are typically more persistent and evolve more slowly than energy.

Fed chair KEVIN WARSH said on artificial intelligence that technology has not displaced workers in recent months.
