At about 09:00 on July 17 a landslide near Wujiang Third Bridge, Hanjia subdistrict, Pengshui county, Chongqing caused house collapses and left people trapped. The Ministry of Emergency Management activated a national Level II geological disaster emergency response. Minister Zhang Chengzhong led a working group to the scene and ordered full search-and-rescue, rapid accounting of those trapped and measures to prevent secondary disasters; Vice Minister Xu Jia'ai continued coordination. The ministry dispatched 100 professional rescuers with equipment from the Natural Disaster Engineering Emergency Rescue Center (China Aneng Group). The national comprehensive fire and rescue team deployed 49 vehicles and 206 personnel to the site.

A signing ceremony for the agreement establishing the World AI Cooperation Organization was held in Shanghai on July 16; 29 countries signed and became founding members. Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on July 17 that China will work with the founding members to push the organization to start operations as soon as possible.
